WALKS FOR ADULTS

Join us on a Muir Trek
Join us on a Muir Trek in the countryside north of Bath.
This sunrise to sunset journey, conducted in the 'here and now' will explore the wilderness of the countryside with a small group of people. It will involve wandering and exploring special places in this magnificent landscape that few people know well.
The walk is inspired by the wilderness journeys of John Muir, a Scottish emigre to America in the 19th century.  He was instrumental in forming the National Parks in the USA and was one of the founder members of the conservation movement. The Muir Trek is an experience designed and developed by The Institute for Earth Education, and will recreate John Muir’s zestful approach to life. It is for those who are 'walking fit' and wish to experience nature in a deeper way. It will finish with a after dusk.
Participants will need to arrive by 8:00p.m. on the Thursday 13th evening for an essential pre-trek meeting and to get ready for the following day before sunrise.
The trek will be led by Edward Leigh-Wood - a Swainswick Explorer leader.
The cost will be just £30 to cover one night's accommodaton and all food and drink. The price is just to cover our costs as it is the first time we are running it and this is like a pilot,  If you would like more information please contact us.
"The goal of the Muir Trek is an internal one - to be conscious & joyful in being outdoors, in direct contact with the earth. There is time to sit, watch & reflect on the natural world, to saunter & wander over relatively short distances."

Text taken from Canopy, the newsletter of the Institute for Earth Education.

The cost after the first muir trek will be in the region of £45.
